Stonewall Kitchen Specialty Foods
by Leslie, Maine
I fell in love with Stonewall Kitchen's Roasted Garlic Peanut Sauce. I toss it with pasta and chicken for a quick supper. The garlic gives it a nice kick which differentiates from a lot of the other peanut sauces on the market.
I next tried some of the jams. The Maine Blueberry was delicious and not too sweet. I also enjoyed the Strawberry and Brandied Apricot jam. The two fruits combine well, and again, the jam was not too sweet.
I recently paid a visit to the store headquarters, located in York, Maine. They offer numerous samples in the store, so you can taste a variety of products to decide what you want to bring home. They make a variety of products including sauces, jams, mustards, oils and syrups. You can also purchase mixes for pancakes, canned soups and chowders, crackers, cookies and more.
The store has a small kitchen area where they create recipes using their specialty products. On my visit they were making pizza with the Roasted Garlic and Onion Jam. Basically, you buy one of those pre-made pizza crusts (like Boboli), spread on the garlic and onion jam, and top with crumbled bleu cheese or feta cheese. Bake until bubbly. It was awesome.
Purchasing Information
You may not live anywhere near Maine, but you can order all the Stonewall Kitchen products online. And don't forget to check out their recipes online. They give you great ideas on how to make delicious dishes using their jams, sauces and condiments. (That pizza recipe is there too!)
