Judy Rosenberg got her start by baking cookies for a local company. Eventually she expanded her repertoire, opened her own store and has been baking desserts for grateful Bostonians for 28 years.
One of her signature products was a nut brownie, called Harvard Squares that she baked as a child with the help of her Mom. She also makes brownies with a cream cheese swirl called Boom Booms, and her legendary Chocolate Orgasms, a rich fudge brownie with a thick chocolate frosting.
Her cookie collection includes my favorite, Soho Globs, a chewy chocolate cookie filled with nuts and chocolate chips. All of the cookies are great, including the Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin and Snickerdoodles. For those who like to bake fresh cookies at home, Rosie's bakery also sells pre-packaged cookie dough in three flavors that can be stored in the refridgerator or freezer for that quick fix.
If you have access to one of the bakeries, they do a wide selection of layer cakes, including wedding cakes. Flavors include the Snow Queen, - a golden butter cake layered with raspberry preserves and frosted with vanilla butter cream, and her award winning Chocolate Fudge Cake - a dark moist chocolate layer cake covered in velvety fudge frosting.
If you like to whip up treats from scratch, you'll want to get a copy of Rosie's cookbooks. She shares the recipes for many of the treats that you can order directly from the bakery, including her rich, velvety fudge frosting.
Purchasing Information
Bostonians have a choice of three locations to get their sweet fix, but if you're from out of town you can order a selection of Rosie's goodies online. Although the layer cakes are too delicate to ship, Rosie's will bake fresh, and ship the same day, a wide selection of cookies, brownies and cakes. They also ship containers of cookie dough, cookbooks and other merchandise.
