Oatmeal Raisin Scones

1 3/4 cups flour
2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp.salt
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup cold butter
1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
1/2 cup raisins
1 egg, beaten1/2 cup buttermilk
2-3 tablespoons cream

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

In a large bowl combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt & sugar. Blend in butter with a pastry blender until dough resembles coarse meal. Mix in oats, raisins, beaten egg and buttermilk until it just forms a sticky dough.

On a floured surface knead dough gently 6 times & roll out into a 1-inch thick round. With a 3-inch round biscuit cutter dipped in flour cut out as many rounds as possible, gathering scraps and re-rolling dough until it is all used up.

Place scones on a lightly greased cookie sheets., then transferring to a lightly greased baking sheet; brush tops with cream. Bake for 15-20, or until golden brown.
