Fresh Apple Muffins

2 cup sifted flour
1/2 cup sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 cup melted butter
2 eggs
1/3 cup milk
1-1/2 cup coarsely chopped apples

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Sift first 6 ingredients into mixing bowl. In another bowl combine melted butter, eggs, milk and chopped apples. Pour over dry ingredients; stir with a spoon just until dry ingredients are moistened. Fill greased muffin tins. Bake for 16-20 minutes or until done. Let sit 2-3 minutes in pan, then remove to a rack to cool.
