Cranberry Cheese Bread

2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoons baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons butter
3/4 cup fresh orange juice
2 teaspoons grated orange rind
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 egg, beaten
1 cup chopped cranberries
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Sift dry ingredients. Cut in butter until mixture looks like coarse cornmeal. Combine orange juice, rind, and egg and pour into dry ingredients. Mix just to dampen. Fold in cheese, cranberries and nuts. Pour into greased and floured loaf pan. Bake at 350 for 1 hour or until toothpick in center comes out clean. Cool and store overnight before slicing.
