Red Velvet Cake
1 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 Tbsp. cocoa
2 tsp. red food coloring
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup buttermilk
2 1/4 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 tablespoon vinegar
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, cocoa and food coloring. Beat well. Add salt, vanilla, buttermilk, flour, baking soda & vinegar. Mix well. Pour into 2 greased 9-inch round cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 30 minutes.
Icing:
5 tablespoons flour
1 cup milk
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Boil the flour and milk until thick. Let cool. (This will be like a paste.) In separate bowl, beat butter, sugar, and vanilla. Add milk mixture. Beat well. Fill and frost cake.
